In short
Cointry has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your drawer, your collections, the photos you add to them, your language and your home currency are stored on your phone. A backup file is made only when you ask for one, and you choose where it goes.
The app sends something only for the few things below. What it sends, and what happens to it, is listed here.
Photo scans
Before your first scan the app asks you, once. When you scan, the photo is sent, without its location and camera details, to our server in the EU and from there to an AI service outside the EU, which identifies the coins and notes in it. The photo is not stored.
To apply the daily scan limit, we keep a count of scans for two days. It is not linked to your name or to your IP address. If you bought the unlock, the app also sends the store’s proof of purchase so we can check it with Apple or Google.
Reports of a mistake
When you report a mistake, the app sends the piece, your language, the catalogue version, the kind of mistake and your note to our server in the EU. No name, no account, no photo. We keep reports to correct the catalogue. To stop abuse we count reports per day; the count is deleted after two days.
Catalogue updates
The app checks for catalogue updates when it starts. The check says nothing about you or your money; the update service needs your IP address to answer it.
Purchases
The one-time unlock is bought through the App Store or Google Play. We receive no payment details and no name; Apple and Google handle the payment under their own privacy policies.
Links
Links to central banks, the ECB or Numista open in your browser. Those websites have their own privacy policies.
This website
This website sets no cookies and has no analytics. Its fonts and icons come from other services, which see your IP address when they send them. We keep no record of visits.
If you write to us, your message is received by our mail server in the EU, kept there for up to 30 days, and forwarded to our inbox, where we keep it as long as we need to answer you.
Who is responsible
The developer of Cointry, reachable at hello@cointry.app.
We rely on your consent for photo scans, on providing what you bought for the purchase check, and on our legitimate interest in running the app and answering you for reports, limits, catalogue updates, this website and email.
Your rights
As we keep nothing that identifies you, there is usually nothing about you for us to find. You can still ask what we hold, have it corrected or deleted, object to its use or withdraw a consent, and complain to a data protection authority.
